Embarking on the journey to the most iconic base camp at the foot of the highest mountain in the world is a special experience.
This trek will wow you with incredible mountain views, while walking through Sherpa country, past cultivated fields, delightful villages and Buddhist monasteries.
The trail starts at Lukla after an exciting scenic flight and follows the course of the Dudh Kosi River before gradually climbing through forests of rhododendrons and Magnolias. You will then rest at Namche Bazaar, the colourful and vibrant Sherpa capital, before starting the climb towards more alpine landscapes.
The views will surprise you all along the way, while passing the settlements of Tengboche, Pangboche, containing Khumbu’s oldest gompa, Dingboche, where you will admire a beautiful sunset over the Ama Dablam Peak and high altitude communities of Dughla, Lobuche and Gorakshep.
After reaching Everest Base camp, this impressive journey is completed with an ascent of the magnificent peak of Kala Patthar at 5554m, with a magical 360 degree panorama of spectacular peaks: Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumo Ri and the Khumbu Glacier tumbling down from the Western Cwm.
While most people start this trek from Lukla, you could avoid flying and start at a lower altitude at the village of Salleri, which requires an extra 4-5 days.
Time spent exploring timeless Kathmandu before and after the trek completes your adventure with insights into Nepali culture and traditions.
