Trip Overview

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a legendary trek in Nepal. This circular route takes you all the way from sub tropical forest and rice fields to high-altitude plateaus and Tibetan villages, crosses the Throng La Pass at 5418m (17769 ft) and heads back down to the Kali Gandaki Valley, the deepest canyon in the world, and the alpine desert of Mustang.

We chose to add this side trip to Tilicho Lake (the world’s highest lake of its size) because with this 2-3 day detour from the usual circuit, you will get virtually within reach to Gangapurna and Tilicho Peak, towering two kilometers above the south side of the lake.

Even though a road has been constructed to Manang, this trek remains an amazing route to explore the Annapurnas.

The Tilicho Lake Trek can also be done by itself if you don’t want to go higher or have less time.

Time spent exploring timeless Kathmandu and relaxing in the lakeside town of Pokhara before and after the trek completes your adventure with insights into Nepali culture and tradition.
