Pokhara is a lovely, medium-sized laidback town in the west of Nepal. It is a 6 to 8 hour drive, or a 30 minute flight from Kathmandu. It is the entry and exit point for the majority of the treks in the Annapurna region and one of the favourite tourist destinations for Nepali people themselves.
The town has great close-up views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, as well as the beautiful and tranquil Phewa Lake, which is surrounded by lush green hills covered with subtropical vegetation. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes where to relax by the water, the perfect combination of tranquillity and liveliness.
When you aren’t soaking in the serenity of this place, there are plenty of activities to choose from.
Hike or drive to one of the many viewpoints and admire the mighty Himalayas, which seem almost within reach. Boat riding or paddle boarding on Phewa Lake are also options. Alternatively, visit the World Peace Pagoda, indulge in a well deserved massage in one of the many spas, do some shopping while strolling around Lakeside, or visit the temples and monasteries in the valley.
If you are an adventure lover, Pokhara is your dreamland, offering an incredible array of choices. With its incredible mountain views and stable thermals, Pokhara is considered one of the best spots in the world for paragliding. So if you are up to some fun time, this is an experience you shouldn’t miss. Pokhara’s zip flyer is the steepest, longest and arguably most panoramic zip flyer in the world. And it doesn’t end here, as bungee jumping, rafting, canyoning, ultra flights and many more experiences await you.
So no matter which kind of traveller you are, Pokhara will surely be one of the highlights of your trip to Nepal. Here are the optional activities we can organise during your stay:
